How do I add a Work Item in OfficeGX?

To create a new work item (task, bug, or change request) in OfficeGX, follow these steps:

  1. Login to officegx.com with your credentials.
  2. From the left-hand menu, go to:
    Project → Work Items
  3. On the Work Items page, click “Add New Work Item” to open the form.
  4. Fill in the following fields:
    • Work Id: This is auto-generated by the system (e.g., 3962).
    • Title: Enter a clear, concise title for the work item (e.g., Do not allow duplicate FAQ to add/update).
    • Project: Select the relevant project from the dropdown (e.g., OfficeGX).
    • Sprint: Select the active sprint (e.g., Sprint 15 – 10/10/2025 to 10/21/2025).
    • Type: Choose the work item type (e.g., Task, Bug, Change Request).
    • Parent: (Optional) Link to a parent work item if applicable.
    • Priority: Choose a priority level (e.g., 3-Medium).
    • Status: Set the current status (e.g., Ready).
    • Requestor: Select the person requesting the task.
    • Assigned To: Assign the task to a team member.
  5. Enter the Description:
     Use the rich text editor to describe the task in detail. You can include formatting, bullet points, and links. Example description:

“Currently, we are allowing users to create duplicate FAQs.

Do not allow duplicate SLAs to be created for the same account.

Throw an error saying “SLA Title Already Exists”.

  1. (Optional) Notify To: Select additional team members to notify.
  2. Activity: Choose the relevant activity (e.g., Development, Testing, Documentation).
  3. Due Date: Set the expected completion date for the work item.
  4. Estimated Effort: Enter the estimated time required (in hours).
  5. Completed Work: Update with the number of hours completed, if applicable.
  6. To record work progress, click “Log Hours” once you've updated effort or completion details.
  7. At the bottom of the form, you can:
    • Click “Save” to create the work item.
    • Click “Cancel” to discard the entry.
    • Click “View History” to see changes made to the item for existing Work Item.

Click “Delete” to remove the item for existing Work Item.
